The unique capiz lamps are handcrafted in the Philippines, where traditional craftsmanship transforms natural materials into timeless lighting. Capiz is a natural shell, prized for its delicate translucency and soft, pearly lustre, making it the perfect material for creating warm and atmospheric lamps. Carefully found in the waters surrounding the Philippines, each shell is cleaned, cut into shape and prepared by hand. Small holes are made in every shell before the individual pieces are meticulously sewn together with fine nylon thread to create elegant, lightweight lamps. Every lamp is handcrafted with great care in a small workshop by skilled artisans who receive a fair income for their craftsmanship. Production is coordinated by our long-term partner Lorna, with whom we have built a trusted relationship over many years. The natural translucency of the capiz shells gently diffuses the light, creating a soft, ambient glow that brings warmth, elegance and authentic handcrafted character to any interior.
